Confirm your country

Most developers have not declared a location anywhere public, which is why every figure on this site is an observed minimum. The confirmation campaign lets developers in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa tell us where they are, so they can be counted, or ask to be left out.

Nothing is collected on this page. When it opens, it will say exactly what is recorded, who is responsible for it, and how to withdraw.

What it will do

Record your GitHub account and the country you choose, on the basis of your consent, and nothing more.
Keep the exact consent text you agreed to, so what you consented to is never in doubt.
Let you withdraw as easily as you confirmed. Withdrawal takes effect immediately.
Honour removal permanently: a removed account is not re-added by a later data refresh. In South Africa, removal is immediate rather than at the next release.
Never publish anything about you individually. Only aggregate figures are published.

Figures already published contain no personal data and are not restated when someone is removed, so citations stay stable. The methodology explains how confirmed developers are counted.
